Outstanding 5th-8th grade students from across the state of Texas are invited to participate in Education in Action’s weeklong Lone Star Leadership Academy programs during the summer. Phone: 214-768-0123 Address: Dallas, TX Ages: High School students Dates: June 30-July 31, 2008 This summer, get the credit you deserve for your exceptional academic efforts through SMU's College Experience, a unique five-week summer program that provides an opportunity for a small and carefully chosen group of highly motivated and academically able high school students to get a head start on college and a taste of campus life. Through participation in college credit courses, students entering the eleventh and twelfth grades can earn up to six credit hours which can be applied towards a bachelor's degree. Students live together in a campus residence facility, and cultural and recreational activities are arranged by resident advisors.

SMI is an intensive mathematics programs designed for highly motivated students in grades 7-11 who wish to accelerate their mathematics education. Students will attend daily classes taught by experienced mathematics teachers in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry or Precalculus. The classroom setting is highly interactive and easily adapted to each individual student's ability and pace. Students will live in a residence hall at the University of North Texas and are supervised by experienced residence life personnel.

Make your summer days sizzle with SMU's Summer Youth Programs for students ages 5 through 18, offers one- and two-week enrichment workshops throughout the summer in the areas of technology, computers, multimedia, writing, art, math, science, literature, gaming, the Internet, sports, study skills, and social skills. This fast paced summer program offers opportunities to experience college life, to take part in activities related to interests in math, science, and computer science, and to prepare students for their next year in high school and beginning years of college. During the five weeks, students spend Monday through Thursday morning participating in a variety of classes including mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer programming , English, a foreign language, genetics, anthropology and study skills. In the afternoons, students work on research projects in their area of interest with college faculty and graduate students and participate in art, drama and/ or recreational sports courses.
Classes are divided by ability, age, experience, and instructor assessment.
